Residential Meditation Retreat:
February 21 - 26, 2009
led by
Eric Kolvig
and
Arinna Weisman
When we befriend and embrace all parts of ourselves through awareness, love, and forgiveness, then clarity and compassion begin to shine through our being and help to awaken those qualities in others. This silent retreat will include mindfulness practice and guided meditations for loving kindness and compassion. It will incorporate sitting and walking meditation, interviews with the teachers, periods for questions and answers, and evening dharma talks.
The days will consist of sitting and walking meditation (silent and guided); mindful movement (gentle yoga); individual or group interviews where you discuss your practice with the teacher, and Dharma talks. The retreat will be held in Noble Silence.

Eric Kolvig, Ph.D., has been teaching in the Vipassana Buddhist tradition since 1985. He leads meditation retreats and gives public talks around the United States. Eric has a particular interest in “grassroots dharma,” building spiritual community in democratic, non-authoritarian ways. He has worked with many teachers but primarily with Joseph Goldstein and Sharon Salzberg, in the lineage of Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma, and also with Richard Clarke in the Zen lineage of Roshi Philip Kapleau. Eric lives in a rural intentional community in northern New Mexico.
Arinna Weisman has studied Insight Meditation since 1979. She teaches in the lineage of the Great Burmese teacher U Bha Khin and was empowered to teach by Ruth Denison and has been teaching since 1988.Arinna is the founding teacher of Insight Meditation Center of the Pioneer Valley in Easthampton, MA, and co-author of A Beginner's Guide to Insight Meditation. She has spent the last two years living in Thai Forest monasteries. She is interested in how to build healthy communities and so her dharma practice has been infused with political, anti-racist and multicultural perspectives.
