TCMC offers several paths to getting started in the practice of mindfulness (insight) meditation:
Monday Night Class
Every Monday night at 6:30 TCMC presents a guided meditation followed by a brief, optional Q&A session. This class does not offer much in the way of introductory material, but the guided meditations are designed to allow a complete beginner to follow along. So if you want to get started right away, you are welcome to attend the Monday Night Class while waiting for one of the aforementioned introductory classes to come around. No registration required. Just drop in and have a seat. There is no fee, but donations are gratefully accepted.
Tuesday Night Class
Insight Meditation taught by Community Dharma Leaders, Lhasha Tizer and/or Terry Magee Tuesday Evenings 6:30-8:30pm Registration Required
These class series are offered in a progressive manner, through a sequence of instructions, each session building on the last. Each class will include a period of meditation, a talk focused on why we practice and what it is possible to discover, as well as time for questions and discussion. By the end of the class series you will have complete instructions for bringing mindfulness into every aspect of your life.
These class series are suitable for all levels. Each class will offer meditation instruction, talks, contemplative inquiry and Q&A.
For new students, we recommend:
Mindfulness 101 A complete introduction to the Four Domains of Mindfulness and how to practice with them. Suitable for those new to practice as well as those wishing a refresher. All are welcome.
Mindful Living What are the attitudes of Mindfulness that can help us in daily life? When the mind is open and receptive, learning, understanding, and change is possible. We will be exploring and nurturing seven attitudes of Mindfulness with the support of Insight Meditation.
For Deepening Your Practice, we recommend
Essential Teachings of Insight Meditation For those who wish to understand Mindfulness in the larger context of the Buddha's teachings. Suitable for new people as well as those who already have a Mindfulness practice. The class will introduce the Three Trainings, the Four Noble Truths, and Loving Kindness practice.
Please call Terry Magee at 481-7735 or email Lhasha at
