January 6, 2009

Board Members Present:  Blake Ashley, Steve Villaescusa, Debra Raeber, Blake Barton, Linda Bacon, Chuong Tran

The minutes from the last meeting, December 9, 2008 were approved.

Financial Report:

Balances are

Checking account: $9026

Savings account:  $965

Hi Yield account:  $25,956

Paypal account:  $1894

Total approx  $36,000

We have paid Willoughby $6000 rent for January through August 2009.

Our rent is $750 per month.

Call to the audience:  George Dobbs mentioned that he would like to see our zafu and zabutons be ordered in black.

Willoughby Britton was also present.

Publicizing TCMC Events and non-TCMC events:  Most teachers partner with TCMC in having events at the center.  The proceeds are split between the teacher and the center.  When teachers partner with us, TCMC comes out much better financially.  Blake Barton proposes that we give incentives to teachers who partner with us.

Non-TCMC events would be those where the teacher or group rents the space or for an event that is not held at our center.

There was a discussion about offering publicity to TCMC sponsored events, ads in Tricycle and Inquiring Mind, and publicizing the event on our website and at the center with flyers.

TCMC would handle the registration for TCMC sponsored events but would not handle the registration for non-TCMC sponsored events.

Blake B. will rewrite the proposal he was working on to reflect some of the new ideas we came up with at the meeting and email the new proposal to board members for approval.

Environmental Arts Committee:  A motion was made and approved that we accept the proposal made by the committee to paint the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathrooms.

Scholarships for the Eric Kolvig/Arinna Weisman retreat:  The board approved a motion that we grant $795 in scholarships to four people for the retreat.

Cleaning person for the center:  The board approved a motion that we hire Audrey Hoehn to clean the center every other week for $50 each time.

There was a short discussion about installing our new library shelf.  Chuong says that he will remove a tape rack and place the new shelf next to the closet where the tape rack is now.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
