Minutes of the Board of Director's Meeting Tucson Community Meditation Center

December 9, 2008

Board members present:  Blake Ashley, Blake Barton, Frank Tomizuka, Debra Raeber, Linda Bacon, Ying Lin

The minutes from the last meeting, November 4^th were approved.

There was no Financial Report.

There was no Call to the Audience.

Maintenance Report:  Blake Ashley would like to arrange to have the Gas Co. come again and make sure we don't have a gas leak.  Debra will arrange to meet them.

Linda Bacon is working on the phone line for the back bedroom.

Environmental Arts Committee:  We would like to look into ordering covers for our zafus and zabutons as well as ordering additional zafus and zabutons.  Debra and Ying have been checking online and have some samples for the committee to look at.  Linda Bacon will call a meeting to get some input from the committee.

Veteran's Group:  A vet has approached Blake A. about TCMC presenting classes on meditation for vets.  The board approved a motion that Blake A. explore having a class for veterans at the TCMC center.

Music Meditation:  Debra presented a proposal that TCMC offer a pilot course on Music Meditation using Shinzen's 8 week course.  Shinzen has provided an outline which we would follow and has encouraged us to offer Music Meditation at our center.  Bonnie Colby, Debra, Sheryl Norris and Chuong will take turns teaching the class which will be offered every other Wednesday evening from 5:15 - 6:30 beginning January 21 and ending on April 29^th.  There will be an evaluation at the end of the course.  It will be announced in the January enewsletter.

The board approved a motion that TCMC offer this course.
