Minutes of the Board of Director's Meeting Tucson Community Meditation Center
November 4, 2008 5:30 pm
Board Members Present: Frank Tomizuka, Blake Ashley, Debra Raeber, Linda Bacon, Chuong Tran, Ying Lin
Audience members: Wanda Poindexter, Tim Clark, Dana Ferris
The minutes from the last board meeting, October 14th were approved.
There was no financial report.
New Facility Manager:
Tim Clark has offered to be our new Facility Manager. He and his wife, Dana Ferris are moving to Tucson in January. Tim has experience as a handyman and in doing various repairs. He would be able to begin at the end of January. Blake Barton will put together a job description. Tim says that he would develop a maintenance schedule. He says he is willing to accept attending classes at TCMC at no charge in exchange for his work at the center.
A motion was made and passed that we nominate Tim Clark as our Facility Manager. Ying will give him an orientation and we will notify members that Tim will be the contact person. TCMC will pay Tim hour by hour in non-residential retreats and classes equal to the hours he puts in at the center.
U of A Meditation Research Interest Group:
A motion was made and passed that we put an invitation in our enewsletter and post on our billboard for members to join this group.
Maintenance issues:
The irrigation has been fixed by Jesus Dominguez. He will add the back irrigation to connect to the controller in the front.
Linda Bacon is working on fixing the phone line into the back bedroom. Chuong will check on getting our heat working. Blake A. has cut a piece of foam to close off the doorway between the zendo and the back hallway.
New conference phone:
It was decided that Blake A. will keep our new phone at his home for safety.
Work Scholarships:
We need a policy regarding credits for attending retreats and classes at TCMC being given in exchange for work don at the center. We decided to table this issue until our next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 pm.
